About the collection

Grounded in Kirac’s lived experience as a father and artist, Kaleidoscope Circus responds to the complexities of being a son, parent and partner in ways both personal and universal.

Drawing inspiration from his sons’ toys, drawings, fleeting conversation and the everyday moments of parenting, Kirac employs a kaleidoscopic lens across familiar motifs like ladybugs, butterflies, flowers and carousel horses, creating a visual language that connects personal memories with evolving ideas of masculinity and care-giving.

Children are often pulled from innocence too quickly, and Kaleidoscope Circus is both a celebration and a warning. This exhibition invites us to remember the joy, wonder, and struggles of youth while calling on us to protect that sense of magic not only for the next generation but within ourselves as adults. It reminds us that the playful curiosity we once had is worth preserving.

In contrast to darker narratives that highlight the premature loss of innocence, Kaleidoscope Circus offers a hopeful vision, urging protection through colour and joy. The fragmented, kaleidoscopic works are whimsical yet disjointed, reflecting the messy beauty of growing up, with bold colours and naive subjects at the heart of each piece.

Through rich symbolism and layered storytelling, Kirac explores masculinity, identity and our shared duty to nurture the joy and wonder that allows children and adults alike to dream, play and grow safely
