'Bonalbo Gums’ Framed Original Artwork, 2024
One-of-a-kind original artwork, painted with mixed media on stretched canvas. Float framed in Tasmanian oak.
Size: 99 x 99 cm
A good friend of mine recently passed, he sought solace in a small town called Bonalbo. He moved to escape the pace of life that he lived in the city, to slow down and to search for answers. We shared videos and images and phone calls as he lived his life of consolation. I never went to visit him in his new home, which I regret, this painting is a memory, from a place that I have never been. I painted this as a celebration of our long friendship. Using intuitive mark-making and intense colour my current works are driven by the energy and emotion I encounter in everyday experiences, manifesting as abstracted landscapes, gardens and blooms.
